A game SHOULD have updates, but a update who changes EVERYTHING of the game is risky, and is like a shot in the darkness.

Hi Vital Aire,

There will definitely be at least one reset within the next few weeks, as we make a major update to our skill learning system (read more about this in the internal testing forums here). It is likely that there will be another reset before release too, but this depends on player exploitation of bugs and how much more we need to change the skill learning formulas.

I am also wondering what it is holding you guys from a public beta. Or not really beta, I guess a release candidate is more like it. I know you guys are working diligently on this game, but after over seven years of being in "beta", you've got to be close.

You guys were having beta tests when I came here in 2007, you're still in beta. The only difference? You've lost people who were interested in the game because they didn't want to wait for 10 years.

What gives?

The point of a closed beta is to find and fix most important bugs in programming, stability etc. You wouldn't like to play a game with them trust me. If you are so eager to play already feel free to donate 5 or more. Before the game will work clockwork we will have plenty of updates so there is still some waiting ahead of you. Cheers!

I understand that, however, that is not the point I am getting at. I know that at any time I can donate to play, however, as Myth Entertainment has for years stated, Phobos is a free game.

What I am asking is, when will this game be released. Rough estimate perhaps? Any sort of time-frame at all.

From my understanding, this to-do list is the list of things that needed completed before the beta was complete. Is that the case? If so, this list is complete, and therefore the beta must be close to completion, and you guys must be close to release.

If not, what is this to-do list for?

Again, as stated, I understand that at any time I can donate to play, that has nothing to do with what I am asking.

The to-do list was what was needed to do before the beta could start, not for beta to be complete. So you can now say this list is for "old stuff", it would be fit to make another to-do list for what is needed for the release.

As always progress is slow, the staff is only working at the game in their free time which means that jobs, friends, family etc will go before working on the game. So don't expect a release too soon, this to-do list took more than three years to complete.

Be patient, even if it takes a long time it is still a great game!

If you want a rough estimate of when it will be release ready.... In my opinion something like 2-5 years.

What is holding them back is the programming side. No disrespect, you have done a great job but with so few people the process has a real bottle neck.

The art, graphics, design or whatever you want to call it is great. Real nice and works well.

I know you like to speak about Brooks's law. "Adding manpower to a late software project makes it later"
I think this is true for bigger teams where the people just come in and then leave after it has been released. Right now you have two programmers, one client side and one server side? I don't know how it works exactly.

This makes any updates very slow. How much can one person do in their spare time when hours can be spent trying to troubleshoot a single problem. You really want to think about introducing more talent into the team to work on the programming not just to get it release ready but to become part of myth ent.

This is just how I see it from the other side of the internet, where I have sat getting older and wiser for many years xD
