This topic includes proposals and small hints concerning the following subjects and even more proposals of later posts in this thread:
 • Images
 • External Links
 • Quotes
 • Favicon

Images

So, lately I have been experiencing the problem that if someone includes in his post an image that is wider than the forum layout the layout will be messed up completely, which is awful, it doesn't look good at all. As I am not the only one suffering from that problem I thought about a solution. I realized quickly that there are 2 possibilities:

1. You re-introduce the old code system again, that gave the poster the possibility to decide upon the image's size through this code

Code: Select all

(or something like this, I can't remember)
...or....
2. Introduce a completely new system using javascript, that adds a small bar on top of every image exceeding the forum layout. The image will be resized automatically to fit the layout, however clicking the bar will cause the image to appear in its original size, clicking it again will resize it again [example]. Of course the image will still mess up the forum when in its original size, but the reader can resize it anytime he likes to continue reading (maybe he just wanted to see the original size to make out some details) and maybe there's a way to restrict the "messing-up" to that single post instead of the whole page.

External Links

I guess that as soon as you plan to release Phobos you will want to limit the people's possibilities in the forum, so people don't post links to external hacking sites for example.
For the case of those external sites I thought that people still should be able to post no matter what link, however if the link does not begin with http://www.mythentertainment.com/ or http://www.phobosonline.com/ or the url of a supported website that was proven harmless the link will be hidden behind a certain image, warning the user [example: Image]. Holding the mouse over the image will reveal the link [configurable through html-code by the "title"-attribute], clicking on it will redirect the player (in a new window) to a page asking
Link_Page wrote: Do you really want to visit [link]? Please note that looking at external websites may harm your computer and put your personal data in danger. Don't follow the link if you suspect it of being harmful.
[ Button: Continue to external website ] [ Button: Cancel ]
Clicking on "Continue to external website" or on [link] will load the link in the same window. Clicking on "Cancel" will close the window.

That is my idea. I am still thinking about a solution for the case when somebody wraps the -tags around an [img]-tag. ... hree posts of this thread again. Still hoping for this one ;)

Favicon

Phobos-Icon as favicon (small icon next to the page-url in your adress-bar) please!!!111oneoneone

Ok, the last two proposals were old and short, but still... you get the point :)

Comments please ;) If possible on each of the points.

Well, in fact I was hoping one of the person in charge to post here ;) Still, everyone is allowed to tell me his opinion, maybe add something he thinks is necessary.

I have to say that I agree with you on all your points, but same as ZeroCoolz, I'm not in charge of the forum, and if I were, I wouldn't know how to add these additions (except of the Favicon) :P

Keep on with the proposals Phineas, I always read them, but I usually don't know what to reply or I'm already working on something else so I forget to post  But I do read them!

First of all, of course you are not in charge but maybe you could pass on the information to those who are *glances at Jason* ;)

Thanks for your support Torbjørn :) Maybe there could be some sort of "official stamp" the moderators or the staff members that are concerned with the proposal can put below posts to show that it was read and "approved" or whatever, so even if you don't reply this feeling comes up ensuring the community that you actually care :P

I am not sure how such a stamp would be protected so nobody can copy it, but it sure would be nice ^^

Just my 2 cents.

Just another thing:
The friend's list in the forum could use some better separation between Online and Offline. Sometimes I skim through the list and think "Offline" is a user ...
A small line as separator would be good (check left image).

Here's what I mean (checking your list would be the best as this blurred version makes it easy again).

IMPLEMENTED!! :D

And again another thing:
These PM-Icons definitely need some touching up ;)

Edit: Just realized that those icons are used as well when creating a new topic.
