Post Gods, Mutation, Death Penalty and more
I've been discussing Phobos with my friends Franco and Felipee and we have come up with three proposals to enhance the game. Some of those have been inspired by Roguelike games.

God System

There would be a number of gods, demons and other assorted powers who would accept your character's worship, and sometimes give out favours in exchange. This would include passive or active powers or prizes such as weapons and equipment. You could check the requirements of whoever it is that you worship, and if you found religion to be an inconvenience you could always renounce your faith.

Some examples of God are as follows:

  • Good battle god: Would favour players with an offensive non magic style such as knights, gifting his most proeminent followers with nice equipment and active battle buff abilities.
  • Evil chaotic god: Would favour good killers, gifting temporary demonic followers and other powers.
  • Magic god: Would favour magic users, gifting spells and mana regeneration.

Mutation System

Although it would doubtless be a nice thing if you could remain genetically pure, there are too many toxic wastes and mutagenic radiations in the world of Erasan for that to be possible. If your character is so affected by these that he or she undergoes physiological change. Many mutations are actually beneficial to the characters, but there are plenty of nasty ones as well. Examples:

  • Changes to primary attributes (Strength, dexterity, etc);
  • Changes to maximum mana and HP;
  • Inate vulnerability or resistance to elemental damage;
  • Abilities, such as spiting fire or poison.

Resurrection/Death penalty

When a character dies, he would turn into a ghost and would only be able to walk in the temple. He would need to complete a small and simple quest to regain life, offering a sacrifice (death penalty) to the god of life. Such sacrifices would include, but not be limited to, experience points and skill points.

Maybe the game has already developed too much to implement some of these proposals.... But the goal here is trying to offer the staff at least some possibilites to use the features listed above.

Well, i don't want to be very extensive because i have lots of things to do, but imo the God's idea can be put to use somehow.

I like a liittle bit the mutation's idea, as long as there is any reversal way for them... I prefer treating those as diseases and magical effects upon someone. But if the majority likes mutations, i'm ok with it.

And the death penalty, this idea came once to us and i personally totally dislike it, i find it boring and irrelevant, BUT in a second thought, i like the idea of choosing what penalty you should have: sacrificing a little bit of everything or a lot of exp, a lot of skills, a lot lot of one single skill... With the level cap system i think that using the traditional methods may be sometimes not a penalty. Idk...
But in anyway the item's penalty imo should remain the same.

The penalty system is the only relevant part, the rest is just for fun.

There is some options to that, like the possibility of blessing an item so you won't lose upon death.

Love the first two ideas :like: I also prefer the idea of most things being irreversible. Makes my choices much more important.

Not sure about the last, I have never believed in ghosts 8) I prefer to just die and then respawn.

Nice proposals!

I like all of the parts, but as Agent said, i'd also prefer the choice to remain after choosing.
After all that would make the choice much more important! :)
