The subject is quite describing, simply certain monsters will respond to speech (text).
It doesn't have to be something that will alter the event in progress, for example the monster won't stop chasing you (or it might?) but simple if you are running from for example bandits and yell help, they might respond with "Shut up or I'll slit your throat". This could of course be more elaborative as described above, affecting how the monster reacts, stopping it, making it angry and thus faster.

Just a quick idea I had as I wrote a example of my other recent "idea" of guidelines, so it's not so thought out yet, but the concept is there and simple to grasp.

Kind regards, Faw~

I expected you to post a proposal like this one after having read your ideas on the forum ;)
The idea of having monsters who react on players' speech is very original but quite useless at the same time. The point is that I doubt players will make monsters angrier than they already are as there is no benefit for the player himself. Why would I provoke a monster thus making it stronger?
After all it is still a nice feature but I wouldn't take my time to yell "Haha, you'll never catch me!" to a horde of orcs... in the end they'd probably catch me

The examples were mainly just that, examples, perhaps if you taunt/scare a not-so-strong (or a strong but stupid) monster it might cease to chase you, or perhaps just stop for a brief time.
Useless doesn't really make it bad, as the idea was originally purely aesthetic and to improve the RPG feeling of the game.
And about taunting the monster, this could be "used" by "enemy" players aggregating a monster to make it catch up with your foe, or something like that.

Wouldn't that mean that the monster switches its target to the player taunting it?

Hmm...perhaps...emm...it might...but...err...SHH!

Perhaps he aggravates it, get away, and leaves it somewhere very, very angry?
But taunting it could add a small (very small to prevent it to be abused when tanking) to change target.

Anyhow, it's just a silly idea anyway...and I'm very, very bored with my dimensional-analysis at the moment.

Would be great for player events :P. Lure a monster into an "arena" taunt it and then you can challenge it. Like ox-fighting (can't remember the real name atm..) in Spain :P

Die evil creature of plague!

Lol. I like the idea, but how it's implemented I probably won't.

it would also be cool if you'd say certain things to a monster, which makes him thrust you and fight by your side.
though i dont think it will work :/

If this would be implemented, then the ones you would be able to stop should be the "weak-minded" sentient beings.. <waves his hand slowly through the air>

Its definetly a good proporsal..
Its way efficient when hunting in group, so the blocker could taunt the monsters preventing it from changing target to group partners...

The idea looks great on paper (or invisible cyber forum paper), but I don't think it will work nicely in-game.
