 Teaser - Skills and Attributes
Skills and Attributes SkillsThe old system of slashing/piercing/hacking proved to be too confusing and using separate elements for magical skills simply made it too difficult to balance classes. So instead, the physical skills are as follows: swords, daggers, hammers, polearms (including axes), defence, archery, throwing, firearms. Kurt, the Page Guild leader in TimarThe magical skills are: nature, destruction, protection, support. You can probably work out more or less what each of those skills contains, so I won’t go into any more detail with that right now. Arian, the Apprentice Guild leader in TimarSkills are raised over time and use, so may be trained up. However if you want to increase your skills fast, then standing with a friend and repeatedly bludgeoning each other in the face with a weak weapon isn’t the way to go. AttributesAttributes are the general qualities of your ingame character. We have split this simply into strength, dexterity and wisdom. Many of you will be familiar with what these mean from other games: Strength is how strong you are (shocking, I know), so characters with a high strength will do more damage with melee weapons and are able to wear heavier armors.
Dexterity is how good a character’s hand-eye coordination is and how agile they are. Having a high dexterity skill increases the damage from distance attacks, and will raise the chance of a successful hit from any attack.
Wisdom is how intelligent the character is. So this is the attribute most important to magic users. Higher wisdom means greater magic attack damage and defence.
Unlike skills, attributes cannot be trained up. Instead, whenever a player levels up in experience they get a set number of ‘attribute points’ to spend on attributes. Apart from affecting how much damage you do, the choice of attributes will also influence the HP and MP gained at each level up. So choose wisely. Now of course, this means that on reaching max level, no more attributes can be gained. But this also means that you get a certain amount of flexibility with how you build your character, whatever class you are. Yours,

Cool!
I´m just afraid of firearms, i don´t know how this will be implemented and balanced.
I loved the statue outsite Kurt´s house and the bookshelf of Arian.

Looking forward to play Phobos, it looks promising and the team seems to be working on common flaws seen on other games.

Re: Teaser - Skills and Attributes
Till just pointed out to me that I spelt it "focusses" and "focussed" (with a double "s"). This is actually the British spelling, but as we'll be using American English ingame, it has now been changed to the single "s" form!

Great teaser! I'd love to play it right now. And btw British English in the game would be way prettier IMO.

Epic! Definitely cannot wait to play this. I'm glad to see that Strength, Dexterity, and Wisdom will all be skill points you can put in where you see fit. Awesome work guys, keep it coming!

Re: Teaser - Skills and Attributes
I just got an idea that you could be able to gain some skill points from quests or something. example: you have a quest from the swordmaster, when you coplete it you get few skill points ( to use by yourself or directly to the swordfighting skill) Anyway, I like it .. i like everything what makes us closer to play

Re: Teaser - Skills and Attributes
Good teaser, but tell us more about traning Streght Dextery and Wisdom
or its just:
increasing Strenght: Attacking with melee weapons and shielding increasing Dextery: Using Distance Weapons increasing Wisdom: Using Spells
is it that simple?
Edit: Sorry i didnt explain myself well How many ways are to improve Strenght, Dextery and Wisdom, and what are those ways?

Strength, Dexterity and Wisdom are the attributes. You can’t train them up. The only way to increase them is to level up in experience. Every time you level up in experience you choose which attribute to increase.

Re: Teaser - Skills and Attributes
Strength - higher melee damage. Dexterity - higher distance damage. Wisdom - higher magic damage.
So as a ranger, the most important attributes for you will be dexterity and wisdom.
